This is a call to all my past resignations

I turned 40 this week. It’s been 8 years since I posted on here. I have maintained payment on the site every year.

I went to a Big Sugar concert last week, and afterwards, while posting on my Instagram account (yes, that happens), I was looking up the SGJ post from around 2004? 2005? And since then have been going post-by-post forward re-reading everything I have written here.

I don’t know that last time I did a deep dive on 20s Pat, but 20s Pat was very angry. 20s Pat was a pretentious ass. 20s Pat would have benefited from some therapy. 40 Pat probably would too, but that bridge has not yet been crossed.

I’m pretty sure that this place is one of the last living pieces of flotsam and jetsam from the heydays of The Blogging Times. I think Tony Pierce and Raymi still have theirs going? I haven’t actually read anything that would otherwise count as a blog since probably the last time I posted on here.

I honestly didn’t know if I’d be able to log back in, but here we are.

I don’t think I’ll advertise that I’ve posted again. Everyone’s attention is consumed by Instagram, Tik Tok, and YouTube. This place is just hanging out in space like Elon’s roadster around the sun. There, mostly forgotten, until a visit or conversation brings up reminders of “remember that time at that Matt Good concert?”

So, here I am at 40 not having accomplished a lot of what 20s Pat wanted to, but having done many other things. I”m ok with that. 20s Pat would definitely go “what happened to you, man?” 40 Pat responds, “once you’ve tasted $1000 scotch, you accept that you enjoy the finer things life has to offer. Also, many people are still confused by what comes out of my mouth, so we still have that in common.”

Barring potential events, Matt Good concert #18? 19? I’ve lost count… on April 30, 2024. Yes, I still pony up for the VIP package.

Now get off my lawn.
