pro-tip boys and girls: know how to look up relevant legislation on your own without having to ask someone from a government service desk.

case in point, if you live in Alberta, you should know what section 76(2)b of the Traffic Safety Act says. especially if you have really annoying neighbours who leave their piece of shit cars parked in front of your house for a week with no one home.

this goes double for municipal bylaws that get local law enforcement to go knock on their door and tell them to clean up their property. then it helps to follow up on things like this, make your case for it, and then have a very pleasant experience with a community peace officer who lets you know that if the issue hasn’t been resolved by the following morning, the town will send a crew to clean it and charge the residents for it. oh, and ticket them.

it’s the little things you need to know.

I should have remembered the TSA thing days ago, I reference it at work almost daily. it took a friend coming over last night to put the bug in my mind. and then this morning I woke up thinking “shit, I know exactly where to look for that.”

I have to say, the response times by the POs or RCMP for complaints in Sylvan Lake are super quick. The RCs sent a car by 15 minutes after I called and informed them of the exact section I wanted the complaint listed under. An hour after that, the PO who’s been dealing with this for the last week called and said he’d stop by. I had a nice chat with him when he did, super nice guy. I know POs and RCMP officers don’t always get a good reception, or respect, but then you deal with one like I did and you’re thankful that they clearly care about the good standing of the community they live in.

Will it piss off the neighbours? Yep. Do I give a shit? Nope. I lived next to shit like that for years in Sherwood Park, I don’t need to see that shit next to my own house. People like that, who’ve already made their own unique reputation in the neighbourhood, don’t deserve my respect or sympathy. Plus, since vigilante justice is kind of a no no, throwing all the legal resources you have at them works wonders.

Moving on…

I kind of wanted to stay up to watch the Malaysian Grand Prix last night. But I felt like crap all day yesterday, took a sleeping pill and crashed out after 10. Such is the wonder of the PVR.

I’m disappointed that Raikkonen didn’t make the podium, but at least he was in the points. I’m also surprised that Button retired with two laps to go, and Perez finished as high as he did. I’m not surprised that Maldonado went off twice. I knew Alonso’s wing would fuck up his car before he skipped the pit, and laughed when it looked like the whole front of his car exploded. I feel bad for Sutil and Di Resta and the rest of Force India. I only really started watching every race last year, so Sutil wasn’t anyone I’d watched before. He’ll be one to watch for sure, so it sucked when they retired his car. Hamilton is a dick, and personally, I think it was stupid that Mercedes issued a team order for Rosberg to stay behind him. They’d still get the same Constructor’s points and Rosberg would at least be in the points. I also think Rosberg drives the Mercedes car better than Hamilton, especially considering Hamilton was ordered for a good part of the race to conserve fuel and tires while Rosberg wasn’t. If Mercedes issued a team order saying that, for the rest of the season, both of their drivers could openly compete, I think that Rosberg would own Hamilton. It’s stupid that the team didn’t let Rosberg take a podium spot just because it was Hamilton in front of him.

Oh man, and Vettel? What a dick move he pulled. Risking both cars because he didn’t like that his teammate was in first. Especially after being told told to hold off a few times. If you want to pull out a pass on a teammate, don’t do it but shoving your front wing up his ass, he could have easily passed in the DRS zone. Webber’s face said it all after the race. It said “You, sir, are an unbelievable asshole.” After that race, I’m inclined to agree.

I also desperately need to go to an F1 race. Obviously, the easiest would be Montreal, or Austin, but the British or Indian GPs would be awesome. I mean, they’d all be awesome, but I think those would be my choice. My boss went to the Abu Dhabi on last year. That’s not really relevant to anyone, but still.

It’s also not to late to, you know, be generous and send a gift maybe this way from a certain team store…

I’m off to Edmonton for the next four days to finish off a project leadership course from NAIT. I’M A STUDENT AGIAN. For four days. BUT STILL.

Also, Aimée made me cookies again.

Bernard is still afraid of most of the floor.

That is all.
