where the wild things were

how’s that for a cheap toe protector? black duct tape. i think it goes well with the red. grey would have looked kind of lame. but black looks pretty cool. plus if it wears off i can just stick on another piece. i bailed once yesterday at practice doing crossovers cause i picked up a pretty good pace, caught an edge turning and had to hit the ground before i slammed into the wall. it was pretty fun actually. for the last two practices i’ve had people come up to me like “those are awesome! where’d you get them??” i could have gone the plain black skate route, but really, why do that when you can get awesome red ones? no one’s caught the FMJ reference on the helmet yet, but i don’t doubt that someone will at some point.

other than laundry, I didn’t have much to do today. so i went and deposited a cheque at the south point common here where there’s a bunch of stores. i went into homesense to wander around and look for a bowl or something. but then i decided i didn’t need a bowl. so i wandered over to the Winners side…

ok, at this point i have to mention that it’s one of those Winners/Homesense places that’s all in one building, yet they have they’re own entrances. that just seems wasteful. why not just have one big front door? it’s the same store, so why make some oddly useless attempt at dividing it?

anyway. i figured i’d look for a new pair of pants for work. but of course all the sizes smaller than 36 waist are always gone, so that didn’t work. so i ended up looking at some sweaters. i found the Blue Guru one right down there. yeah, i should have put that picture first but whatever. it’s pretty rad. especially since it was like $30 and they show you the original price on things at Winners and it was like $90.

so i was like, score! and then i wandered over by the coats, cause i need a winter jacket. and it was like BAM HERE I AM! sweet down winter coat with faux fur lined hood from Point Zero. so i tried it on and it was like “yeah, you’re so leaving with me.” and i was like “you are so right, you have no idea.” you know what’s super cool about it? there’s two buttons on it and the rest of the front flap has magnets in it to keep it shut. $100 off from over $200. fuck yeah I’ll take that deal.

i went to see Where the Wild Things are with my new friend Ellen and her friend who’s name starts with M but I can’t remember the rest. I don’t ever remember reading the book as a child, but for some reason i remembered what the pictures in the book looked like, so maybe I did. either way, it was fucking spectacular. like, insanely spectacular. to the point where people who don’t like it don’t have a soul and have no concept of childhood imagination. it’s the kind of movie where you can relate to the characters in so many different ways you can’t help but think back to our own childhood and remember the same kinds of situations and stories you went through and made up along the way. if there are no Oscar nominations for that movie someone needs to be shot.

i think i might go see Zombieland tonight.
