usually when i write an essay or a major project i listen to a limited number of artists. none of this putting the entire itunes library on shuffle. for the latter half of my undergrad, every essay i wrote was done while listening to Stone in Focus by Aphex Twins on endless repeat. that’s it. that one song over and over and over again.

oddly, i cant work on my thesis with that song going now. since i actually sat down and started writing the damn thing in october i’ve gone through the entire discographies of Matt Good, Led Zeppelin, SRV, Stone Temple Pilots and Massive Attack. rarely do they get mixed up. nope, if i start working with one band, that’s the band that stays pretty much in the playlist for the whole day. and if the entire discography is done, then it starts up again.

case in point, as of about ten seconds ago i just finised the entire 4.6 hours of Massive Attack music i have and now it’s starting up again. i could change over to another band but that would completely change the mood i’ve had going for the last five hours.

ok, i know everyone likes to have mixed albums for road trips and parties and stuff, and i know lots of people who have essay playlists and stuff, but if im working and midway i change the music im listening to, it completely screws up my work flow.

as of right now i have 12016 words in this thing. im aiming for above 14000 by friday with a full draft done and ready by the 19th so i can go over the whole thing before submitting that draft on the 22nd.

slowly but surely… now it’s almost a matter of filling in the blanks in some parts. except there’s one major part that im still waiting for feedback on… i should have done that sooner but i didnt and thems the breaks, so i’ll live with it.

i need some food. i haven’t had anthing to eat today except for a bowl of cheerios for breakfast.

when i was a kid my parents would only ever buy my sister and i honey nut cheerios. we’d beg and plead for frosted flakes or lucky charms or fruit loops, but we only ever got honey nut cheerios. well, ok, on summer vacation we’d get those variety packs of mini cereals, but that was summer vacation and never on a regular basis. i often thought i’d grow up to disdain and hate cheerios, and for a long time i would never buy them. and then suddenly last year i was all ‘holy shit! cheerios are fucking delicious!” except i still dont buy honey nut cheerios. every other kind yes, but not those ones. you know what’s annoying about them though? there aren’t any of the really big boxes of any kinds except regular and honey nut that i’ve been able to find. i’d totally snap up a giant box of the oatmeal cluster kind.

i also dont buy junk food that often because frankly i dont have the money to spend on it that much. this often annoys me because i never have snack food. however, there is a 7-11 a five minute walk down the street, but when the street and sidewalk is snowed under, that’s not a snack trek i really want to make just for a small pack of mini chocolate doughnuts.

i could really go for some KD….but i dont have any…. DAMN YOU GROCERY BUYING SKILLS! STOP FAILING AT SNACKS!
